Amelia Jackson Industries was conceived in 1989, by Alan and Val Glasser. The business was named after Alan’s great grandmother who was a weaver in the U.K. which seemed appropriate and had the right sense of family values for their new business.
In the early years because they were small and had very few contacts in the textile industry, they struggled to locate the specific yarns and cotton supplies they needed.
But before long, they purchased their third and fourth looms as sales continued to increase. And in 1994 they decided to go the route of supplying independent shops on a wholesale basis. As a result they saw a steady increase in their customer base and sales over the years.
In 1998 they needed to expand again and moved into new premises in Wynberg at the Cape. Now they have purchased the building and continue to call it home.
