Veronica was born and grew up in Cape Town, South Africa. She studied graphic design from 1966-1969 and worked in that field for a few years. Raising her family happily occupied further years of her life, and only after that did she attend evening classes in watercolour at the Ruth Prowse School of Art. Later she started working in pastel and oils and now she enjoys portraiture and capturing small intimate garden or park scenes. She has the unique capacity to both obscure and capture light.
Veronica is now part of a life drawing group, the Artist’s Cooperative, which meets regularly once a week, at the Observatory Community Centre. Recently she has taken part in group exhibitions at the Cape Gallery, SASA, Art. b Gallery, and Rust en Vrede Gallery. In both 2013 and 2015, Veronica had a painting in the top 100 paintings in the Sanlam Portrait Awards, whilst in 2017 she made the top 40.
Veronica also holds the esteemed position of Fellow of the South African Society of Artists.
