Born in Cape Town in 1961, Jen studied ceramics and sculpture at the Witwatersrand Technikon from 1980 – 1982. In 1987 she spent a year in Barcelona before moving to London in 1988. Finally Jen re-located to her current studio in Oxfordshire in 2001.
Jennifer is a mixed media artist who has mapped the journeys of both her life and her ancestors. The study of clay has influenced her use of surface and texture. In these sculptures, she uses wood, natural earth pigments, smoke-fired stoneware and silver leaf and precious metal clay.
Jennifer’s philosophy is;-
“Through time and pressure, beauty is created; we mine the soul to find the precious elements. Life refines and polishes our history and the choices we have made. The cartography of our lives is etched with experience and memory.”
