Jean Denison was born in South Africa and raised in the foothills of Kwazulu -Natal. This provided her with a very special and natural upbringing, saturated with wildlife and traditional African traditions. Jean studied fashion design at the Tshwane University of Pretoria before going on to study medical illustration at Medical University of Southern Africa. This had a profound influence on her work as it drove her towards a figurative bias.
In 1997 Jean moved to the UK with her family where she continued to do her draw. To this day, pen and ink illustration is Jean’s favourite medium, but she also likes to work in oils. Of her work, Jean says she “loves a little humour and intrigue with a contemporary twist.”
Jean has exhibited extensively both in UK and abroad. Her work hangs in private homes and corporate collections.
