Description
There is an air of expectation in this succinct portrayal of a Lanner Falcon hovering over its prey, which was a Finalist in the prestigious 2016 David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year Awards in London. Working in Derwent Art Pastel Pencils on 300gsm Snow White Daler-Rowney Canford card, conservation artist Martin Aveling won the Environmental Artivism category at WAY in 2024. Martin is a signature member of ‘Artists for Conservation’ and he coined the phrase ‘wildlife artivism’ to encourage stronger calls to actions in the creative output of working wildlife artists. This painting is a long format with the protagonist suspended at the top above a large blank space which gives it appropriate height.
