Our new spring exhibition has no less than eight remarkable original oil and watercolour paintings by award-winning Kenyan artist Karen Laurence-Rowe on show. In this beautifully crafted short video, the artist herself takes us on a journey through the background of each one. We travel up the unpopulated Kunene River in Namibia with its extraordinary rocky gorges and quiet birdlife; to the interior of Kenya, with its mighty elephant and colourful Samburu women, known as the ‘butterfly people’; and onto the east coast of Africa with its glassy sea and endless golden vistas. Karen lives and breathes Africa and takes all her own original photography and videos which gives an added insight and genuine authenticity to her magnificent work. Sit back and enjoy this window on Africa and if you are able to visit the exhibition and see the resulting paintings in the flesh, it will be well worth it. We are open daily, 10am to 4pm from 6th to 19th April inclusive. All details can be found on www.fillingdon.com
