Description
“Having once been charged by a buffalo near a waterhole in my beloved Hwange National Park, I can say with certainty: there is nothing quite like that piercing gaze.
Often dubbed the “debt collector” for their notoriously aggressive nature, Cape buffalo are known for the way they look at you — cold, expressionless, as if you owe them something. It’s an unblinking, unsettling stare that grips you with discomfort, as though your presence alone is a transgression.
It was this dominating, dispassionate glare — so quintessential to the Cape buffalo — that I sought to capture in this piece. That look stays with you. It doesn’t just see you; it sizes you up, weighs your intent, and makes you question your place in their world.”
