Description
This abstract sculpture in extraordinary pink and green agate by new young artist Christopher Tigere Tandi is a representation of a person’s head. The subtle changes in the surface of the piece show a nose bottom right and an eye top left.
The back is left rough, like hair. It is common for Zimbabwean sculptors to leave a hint of the original surface, or even to incorporate it into the finished sculpture. It helps to remind the viewer where the sculpture came from, and what the artist started with.
