Description
An adorable springstone sculpture of a mum gazing upwards, scanning the skies for danger, while the chicks at her feet play together in the knowledge she will keep them safe. Zimbabwean sculptor, Peter Chidzonga has used a number of sculpting techniques to create the various contrasting finishes on this elegant piece. He achieves the brushed effect of the feathers by stroking the stone with a blunt rasp. To create the smooth elements, he sands the stone and then heats it before applying clear wax.
