One Good Turn Deserves Another

Tawney OwlAgainst a backdrop of recent terrible events, here’s a feel-good story to warm hearts.  We have a collection of beautiful large garden pots by the talented Yogi de Beer at the gallery and a few evenings ago our beautiful Springer spaniel, with her highly sensitive nose, trotted round and round them, sniffing and searching.  Upon inspection, we found a young Tawny owl had become lodged and was unable to free itself.  Thanks to Fina’s persistent interest, we were able to locate the baby who, apart from a few ruffled feathers, appeared unscathed.  We placed it in a basket high in the branches of a cherry tree, and as night fell we heard the distinctive to-wit to-whoo of both parents swooping in.  By dawn it was happily gone, although it does come back to visit periodically at dusk.  I like to think that having been recently rescued herself, Fina passed on the kindness to a fellow creature.  And now the stunning stoneware urns have another tale to tell when we open next month.next exhibition
