Description
“This painting was inspired by a trip to the Swedish gallery Artipaleg which is on an island near Stockholm with picture windows of a view of birches and sea interspersed with paintings. It was my best exhibition visit ever – a retrospective of Morandi and De Waal, curated by Edmund De Waal. The pottery houses were copied from some that my granddaughter Izzy made and I have silver birches in my garden. The vase is based on a piece bought from Fillingdon Fine Art gallery.”
With still-life being one of her favourite genres, this original stretched oil painting is by talented and diverse artist Lin Kerr, who hails from South Africa but lives, paints and teaches in Oxfordshire.
