Blue and white is the classic ceramic colour combination used by potters over the centuries around the world. Timeless, classless. fresh and so very beautiful, it is a simple winning formula with universal appeal. And, its inspiration? Perhaps nature. To walk in our local woods at the moment is a heady experience. They are a blue sea of bobbing bluebells, vibrant in the bright sunlight and dense and dark in the shadows. By contrast our fruit trees are a mass of frothy blossom, and the white flower of the Victoria plum looks positively luminous against a clear blue April sky. No question then, that artists draw on their natural surrounds for their colours.
Our expanding collection of blue & white ceramics will be on display at Fillingdon Fine Art gallery from 2nd – 16th July. Prior to that on-line enquiries or special appointments are welcome.
