Cape ceramic artist Annelie Janse van Rensburg describes her hand-built terracotta platters as her ‘canvases’ upon which to coat her white under-slip, allowing the red clay to show through, before richly decorating each piece with her painted imagery of local birds and plants. Her work is highly collectable.
